RTV Silicone Rubber

RTV Silicone for mold making is available in two varieties. Condensation or Tin catalyzed silicone is low in viscosity, very flexible and offer good tear strength. These silicones are resistant to materials containing sulfur such as clay or rubber. Condensation cure silicones may inhibit the cure of some urethanes, especially low durometer or clear materials.

Addition or Platinum catalyzed silicones are harder, have good temperature resistance, and offer long mold life. The cure of these silicones can be inhibited by Tin cure silicones, materials containing sulfur compounds, and rubber. Platinum cure silicones do not inhibit the cure of urethanes or epoxies. They can be used in molds for low melting point metals, and are excellent for potting electronics.
