Poplar

Poplar

Poplar-Liriodendron Tulipifera (North American Poplar)
Poplar has gained acceptance in the pattern field as a firm, durable, serviceable wood used for most applications that do not require exacting tolerances. Most generally used as a glued up plank since it adds stability to the board. It sands and finishes well yet sometimes can leave a fuzzy finish, holds a nice edge and is more dense than the pines so it hold up to wear and tear better in those instances. Poplar is used for large patterns, bottom boards, cleats, millwork, furniture, drawers and cabinetry and many other applications. Poplar is a very cost effective specie and is stocked in thicknesses from 4/4 thru 16/4
